The NT Driver Knowledge Test is a computer-based multiple-choice test on Territory road rules and signs. You answer a fixed set of questions and must reach the pass threshold to qualify for your learner licence.
You need to meet Northern Territory minimum age and ID requirements and be eligible to apply for a learner licence. Bring accepted identification and any documents listed on your booking/appointment notice.
Book an appointment at an NT Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) customer service centre (or via the official booking channel where available). You can change or cancel before your appointment, subject to centre availability and fees.
Accepted photo ID, any required proof of identity/residency, and payment if due. Arrive a little early for check-in—phones, notes, and help from others aren’t allowed during the test.
You’ll be issued an NT learner licence (L-plates) and must follow learner conditions. Keep practising safe driving, complete any required training/tenure, and book your on-road driving test when you’re eligible.
